A few concepts on the map that I resonated with are mindfulness, schema theory, connectionism, and knowledge in pieces. After learning about the 5 principles, I can clearly see how math can become impacted by the students’ attitudes, beliefs, and feelings towards math. Most of these topics on the map I chose come from the ‘identity discourses’. These strategies could help me teach students how to create a positive relationship with math.
