I really enjoyed the way that this was taught. It was slightly different from the way that I remember learning it in highschool. I believe that taking the time to review with students each variable within an equation will really help them not get mixed up when using them on their own with more complex questions. Furthermore, the way this lesson paned out demonstrated how we could use similar teaching styles to introduce math to our students, and how it is important to spend a lot of time on it, with various examples, and lots of questions to further a students’ learning. This lesson prompted me to consider that having a solid understanding of how the equation works will aid students in utilizing and applying the equation to their math problems, and they will be able to further “guess and check” with a deeper understanding.
