The way this was taught is very different then how I was taught 20 plus years ago when I went to school. Everything was based on facts, not looking at the groupings. It took me a little to change the way I was answering the questions. At first I just knew the answers to the easy ones that were basic facts, but I had to stop myself from doing it as I had always and look at how many 10 ‘s and how many 5’s, to look at the groupings to find the answers. I could see as the questions increase in difficulty the importance of making sure students have that foundation on why something works the way it does before moving forward, how each discernment enables another.
