The five Math Minds principles have help me acknowledge the critical aspects that are needed when teaching math. Growing up I enjoyed math and it came rather easy for me. However not every student learns at the same pace which is why I related most with the fifth principle. The concept of building on known or older concepts is an effective way for teachers to make sure that each student is continuous learning. Students are able to build off previous knowledge from the last lesson or unit by noticing similarities in math and create connections to principles that have already learned.
