The five Math Minds principles resonate with my current views about teaching and learning mathematics because I do agree that math tells us something about how it should be taught. Thinking back to my own experiences in math, most of them were based on memorization and little on logic and principles. Furthermore, I strongly believe minds change and minds link overlapping events are two guiding principles that should be at the forefront when teaching math. As for my current views, I always thought working memory isn’t limited. I never considered the brain as plastic before, whether that’s as a container or a computer. For myself, who is a visual learner, these concepts helped me get through this week’s content. These concepts have also made me rethink the ways in which I want to structure my math lessons in the future.
