I really like the ideas on the map of collaborative learning, active learning and learning by teaching. I am in favour of students working together to problem solve because they will learn from each other. In addition, while working together and explaining concepts/ ideas in small groups both the listener and speaker will benefit. One way to know that a student understands information is if they can teach it to one of their peers. I am also in favour of active learning rather than being told how to complete a task and then practicing questions out of a textbook. I think most students will learn best if they are working with the material in a practical way because it creates meaning behind what they are learning.
