The five math principles resonate with my current views in numerous ways, but primarily through the idea that mathematics as a concept is a web of interconnected ideas that anyone can learn with the correct teaching. Previously, I had not considered the ways in which we should view the concept of mathematics as so vastly different from other subjects as I originally assumed the basic fundamentals of teaching each topic were the same or at the very least similar. It is clear to me now that mathematics requires more precise and intentional strategies that apply solely to the topic as opposed to basic methods used within other subjects.
