In the short time I have been taking the course, I have learned about how math should be taught. Over the years, I have taught Math in a variety of different ways- drilling basic facts, hands on learning, real life experiences, using centers, etc. I realize now that I was giving too much information, too fast and did spend time reteaching concepts. We were not making the connections to math with the students. We were focused too much on getting through the curriculum and moving on to the next concept. I like the concept that “the brain is an ecosystem” and that our students have no limits, we just need to give them the tools to succeed.
