The five Math Minds principles made me realize that often times in school, math can be very overwhelming due to the amount of information thrown at students at a time. Principle 3 demonstrates the need for teachers to adjust the pace of the lesson to the student’s learning rather than jumping to the next task. It is also important to allow for time to practice the learned skill, and for the information just learned to fully sink in. Also, Principle 2 made me think that it is important to facilitate noticing and associating concepts so that learners can build a stronger math foundation and build upon it.
